HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR TIKI HEAD...
|
Your Tiki statue will happily last for years outdoors. However, to prolong the life of your Tiki, the following should be used as a guide.
- When positioning your tiki in your garden, make sure you stand him on stone or bricks. If you stand him on earth, his bottom will begin to soak up moisture and deteriorate.
- It is best to keep it protected from the direct weather. For example on a porch, under the shelter of a tree, anywhere away from direct rain and weather.
- Cover your tiki in cold conditions (snow/ice) or store in a shed or garage throughout winter.
- You can use wood oil, wax or outdoor varnish to protect your tiki which will see him lasting longer than you. All our Tiki's are treated with penetrating wood oil to repel moisture. It's a good idea to re-apply some clear exterior wood oil every couple of years to protect from the eliments. Alternatively you can varnish your tiki. When you use varnish on your tiki he will appear a darker shade, even when using clear varnish, as you can see in the example below.
